A Chinese white dolphin was successfully saved after a four-hour rescue operation in Guangzhou's Pearl River.
The dolphin was first spotted by local residents near Jinshazhou Bridge on July 30. By around 8:30 PM on July 31, rescue teams successfully rescued it under Luoxi Bridge. Using fishing nets, they carefully captured the animal and slowly guided it to a safe location for treatment.
The Chinese white dolphin, also known as the Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin, is a protected species in China and a symbol of ecological health in the Pearl River Delta. These dolphins typically live in seawater and are considered nearshore marine animals. They often inhabit the the Pearl River Estuary, appearing at the intersection of saltwater and freshwater meet.
